Did you know that diabetes is still a very common and serious disease! Diabetes is 1.8 times more likely to occur in blacks compared to non-Hispanic whites. Compared to their non-Hispanic white counterparts with diabetes, Blacks with diabetes also experience higher complications, such as cardiovascular heart disease, diabetic retinopathy, end-stage renal disease, and amputations.
